Somnio Strings was a four-piece ensemble rooted in the South Florida music scene, founded in 2016 from a shared love of video game, anime, and animation soundtracks—an inspiration sparked by the Steven Universe soundtrack. The group was created as a way to explore and share how deeply video game music shapes the way we listen, feel, and connect to orchestral sound. As avid listeners of classical and orchestral works, the ensemble celebrates how these traditions translate seamlessly into interactive and animated media, allowing orchestral music to continue living and evolving in a modern context.
Featuring violin, viola, cello, and keyboard, Somnio Strings performs original, in-house arrangements crafted entirely by members of the ensemble. I served as violist, principal arranger, and chief executive officer, shaping the group’s artistic direction and body of work. Each arrangement functions as both a personal interpretation and a tribute—a love letter to the composers who inspired us and continue to influence our listening. Through performance, Somnio Strings sought to honor these musical worlds while offering audiences an expressive and meaningful musical experience.
